you can try tofu as well.. i made these today with tofu cus i always that on hand, worked out fine. just make sure its extra firm and a little frozen before pulsing it! you can try cottage cheese as well but as i havent tried it i cant say anything about its texture. ps - i made these into little balls, just like meatballs and used them in a curry gravy!

Sehr gutes Rezept! Mir sind sie beim ersten Mal allerdings auseinander gefallen. Evtl. sollte man noch 1-2 EL Sojamehl mit ein bisschen Wasser vermengen und zum Teig dazu geben. Das hat die gleiche Wirkung wie ein Ei bei einer Kadavermüllfrikadelle und bindet den Teig besser. PS: Macht Bärlauch in den Teig!

sowas passiert meistens wenn man zu früh wendet, ist eh problematischer bei tofu. einfach vorsichtiger wenden und warten, bis jede seite wirklich kross ist (natürlich nicht angebrannt). ansonsten gibt es sowas wie ein ei-ersatz, der heißt glaube ich "no egg", soll wie das ei die masse zusammenhalten (also auch zum backen etc geeignet). kann man glaube ich auch selber machen, musst aber mal googlen.

I recognize the recipe! I made them, too, but only dehydrated them for a few hours. I thought they needed something also, but it's a good place to start. Also, the original recipe doesn't call for dehydration unless one wants too. I think most folks will want to. The tomato catsup recipe that goes with them (in that book I won't mention) is absolutely delicious.

I don't understand why in recipes people keeps saying how a certain vegetable is rich in vitamin C when they are going to cook the food.That is misleading for people that don't know that vitamin C dissappears when you cook your vegetables!It even dissappears (in contact with oxigen or sunlight) if you chop the vegetables and leave them to stand.I am not a raw vegan,but I think everyone should know that they will get almost none vitamin C from cooked vegetables.

If you go heavy on the fat it could compromise assimilation of all nutrients, carbs, water and oxygen to your cells....in small quantities they provide a nutrient boost as they re packed with minerals and amino's....like dan said if you want to cleanse properly, leave them out for a while, especially in spring/summer...just make sure you get enough calories from other sources. cheers

also remember this, you DONT have to choose Juice or smoothie, you can have BOTH. for instance what i luv to do is Blend up a Green smoothie. But a typical one is too thick and not my style but i like the high fiber of it to clean me out and keep me Regular. hey man just my opinion here , i thought about going on a full Juice Feast but i realized its impractical and little too intense for me to do right now so im doing a Modified version . im Drinking 2 qts of Juice a day, but im also including Organic Fresh Berries and some soft fruits daily, and 1 qt. of Green smoothie a day. also small amounts of Young coconut fat daily. this is working fabulous for me and am cleansing alot while still being very easy on bod systems

I would cook it on low for 6 to 8 hours. To speed it up, cook it on high for 3 to 4 hours. It will still have an additional hour or so to cook after adding the vegetables and spices. Also, since you will not be adding all that water, you should reduce the amount of salt to 1 teaspoon per pound of meat. Everything is variable, and can be done just approximately when you are using a slow cooker, and it will still turn out great! --Betty :)
